Wow! What a turn out this pass meeting, looks like our membership drive is off to a great start. Now that the weather is warming up and we all start thinking about getting back into the swing of things. Let’s all check and recheck our gear to make sure it’s in good shape. Don’t forget to change the oil in your engine, check your hoses for leaks. You just might want to check and see if your wet suit needs some repair.
Plus we have the common dig coming up in May great time to bring all your equipment out and give it a test run for the weekend to work out the cob webs. Let’s all remember GOLD does weird things to some people. Especially @ the price it is now. We all need to remember be kind and respect each other. Common sense goes a long ways.
The Aurora Center needs our help. The building and property needs some T.L.C. Let’s help out April 26 @ 8am lots of odd and end jobs need to be done.
Big Question
Who wants to join us on the Board of Directors? Who is ready to step up to the plate and put in their two years on the Board? If you or if you know someone that wants to put their name on the list just get in touch with John Robertson, he is head of the Election Committee.
Next Board meeting is May 3rd @5pm. General meeting @ 7pm. Don’t forget we have a coin hunt @ 3pm $10.00. I’ll be there with my earphones on and detector in my hand. So, come and join me.
Just a reminder: LIVING ON THE PROPERTIES IS NOT ALLOWED. THAT’S NOT PART OF OUR LEASE. PLEASE READ THE RULES AND REGULATIONS AND OUR BY-LAWS. THAT WAY THERES NOT QUESTION ABOUT IT. PLEASE LETS FOLLOW THEM.
THAT OLE SAYING “RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN." DOES NOT APPLY!
Keys will be mailed out soon. Hope to see you May 3rd come early.
Selina Vasek- Still proud to be your president

Thoughts and Prayers
|
|
Sam Alford’s family asks for prayers.
On Friday 4/11/2008, my dad, Sam, had a stroke, and he is in the Northeast Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. He has been put in ICU and we are hopeful that he will be OK. I ask for your prayers that Gods will be done, and that he gives my mom, Shirley the strength she needs.
Thanks Roy

We had another great meeting and another great month, signing up 20 new members. We are going to be busy, busy, busy, with the next couple of months with Bear on the Square in April, workday on May 17, and the common on May 24 & 25 Hope to see you there.
Just a few things this month: New keys will be mailed out starting April 15, 2008. If your dues are not paid up then you will not get a key. As soon as you catch up I will send your key. There has been a lot of confusion about the $25.00 on the statements This is your yearly maintenance fee, not a keying error.
Election is coming up so think about doing something for your club. You the members need to become more active in running your club. Who knows, YOU could make a big difference.
Spring is finally here and everything is so beautiful, EXCEPT some of the campsites on our lease properties. Guys, please have respect for your fellow members and to the land owners and PLEASE clean up your campsite.

Hello again, It seems things are picking up here at the meetings and I hope to see more of you next month. We have a lot of activities coming up so be sure and put them on your calendar. In April, we sold 114 raffle tickets and made a deposit of $186.00. Next month, we will be serving BBQ sandwiches with potato salad, chips, and maybe something else as well, you just never know. For the common in May, we will be serving cold cut sandwiches for lunch and hamburgers and hotdogs will be served for dinner around 6pm. Please bring a side dish or dessert. We will supply the drinks as well. On Sunday, it will all depend on how many people are there. We usually use up any hotdogs or burgers for lunch. We will not be serving a dinner on Sunday. Hope to see you all there! Thanks again The Ladies

Common Dig!
|

Hello Everybody, I wanted to thank everyone for all the positive responses I have received so far. We have several pieces of mining equipment being loaned to us, as well as folks who are going to need some team members. We are still trying to find a piece of equipment in house. I have a gentleman who has a machine, but no way to transport. If anyone has a heavy duty trailer we could use, then we might be able to get something worked out.
For all those participating in the common, there will be a nugget raffled off at the dinner on Saturday night. The nugget was donated by Gary Smith. The Ladies will be providing lunch and dinner on Saturday. We will be having a work day on May 17th, the weekend before the common. This is mostly going to be fixing up the community area where the meals are served and cutting back shrubs. The canopy needs replacing and we are going to construct the frame out of wood instead of the metal poles. So bring a hammer or two if you have one.
Bill Turner has donated a nugget to be raffled to those participating in the work day. You can't just show up, you must be working to be included in the raffle. Don't miss out on all the fun and friendship! Mike Pratte BOD

CDC Says "Take 3" this flu season!
|
|
Flu is a serious disease. Each year in the United States, on average:
5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; More than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and; About 36,000 people die from flu. Take action to protect yourself and your loved ones from the flu.
Vaccinate: Take time to get a vaccine.
A flu vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu. The flu vaccine protects against three different flu viruses. Getting a vaccine is very important for people at high risk for serious flu complications and their close contacts. People at high risk include infants, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart disease, and people 65 and older.
This year, an all-time high supply of vaccine is available so more people than ever can seek protection from the flu. Because flu season can last as late as May, getting a flu vaccine now can still be beneficial.
Stop Germs: Take everyday preventative actions.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze—throw the tissue away after you use it. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. If you are not near water, use an alcohol-based hand cleaner. Stay away as much as you can from people who are sick. If you get the flu, stay home from work or school. If you are sick, do not go near other people so that you don't make them sick. Try not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs often spread this way.
Antiviral Drugs: Take antiviral drugs if your doctor says you need them.
There are flu antiviral drugs that can treat the flu or prevent infection with flu viruses. For treatment, antiviral drugs should be started within 48 hours of getting sick. For prevention, antiviral drugs are 70% to 90% effective in preventing infection. These drugs must be prescribed by a health care provider. If you develop flu-like symptoms (usually high fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches), or are exposed to the flu before you get a flu vaccine, your health care professional will decide whether you should take antiviral drugs.
