Dredging material

I've recently picked up a new dredge and eager to hit the honey farm before it turns cold. My kids are old enough and ready to jump in now unlike the past years. I would like to know what is the best area/material to look for at the honey farm? I've had the best luck busting hard pack out of cracks but have also done well with the heavy dense looking gray sand almost looks like clay. Am I on the right track or is there more to be looking for?
